      Volunteers needed for VIP cleanup March 28
            Bayonet Farm Committee and Holmdel Department of Parks and Recreation are seeking volunteers for the newly created Holmdel Volunteers in Parks (VIP) program. Holmdel has several municipal parks, farms with public access, greenway trails and a nature preserve. Volunteers are needed to help keep parks and trails clean, safe and inviting to the public.

      Logos sought for 'Buy Middletown' campaign
            Middletown Township is holding a design contest to find an official logo for "Buy Middletown," an awareness campaign aimed at building a stronger business community. Middletown residents and businesses are invited to participate. All submissions are due by May 1.

      Open house at BCC slated for March 29
            Brookdale Community College (BCC), Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown, will hold an open house at noon March 29 at Warner Student Life Center. A general session expo will follow in the Robert J. Collins Arena.

      MU to host hunger banquet, fundraiser
            Monmouth University's (MU) Institute for Global Understanding will host a hunger banquet and fundraiser noon-3 p.m. April 5 at Anacon Hall, West Long Branch. The event will highlight world hunger and poverty. Guest speaker will be François Jung-Rozenfarb, senior adviser at CARE U.S. Attendees are welcome to donate any amount toward the fundraiser.

      Hydrant flushing to begin in Matawan
            The annual flushing of mains and testing of fire hydrants will begin April 13 in Matawan. Hydrants will be opened between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The program will continue for approximately one month.
