County must alleviate drag strip effect in Lincroft
It's time well overdue for the county to stop turning deaf ears to the cries for help from the residents of Lincroft - residents concerned for the safety of the children, seniors, walkers, and riders in Lincroft. Years have gone by and the cries to save lives are still the same, to no avail; again, two more children died. Still, no help from the county! Residents and business owners of Lincroft have pleaded and expressed their concerns for years over the safety issues of the roadways. The county has created a drag strip on Route 520 claiming numerous lives. What is it going to take to have the county finally hear and acknowledge the dangers on Route 520, Swimming River Road and numerous residential streets? How many more lives must be taken before they agree to help eliminate the danger? Dangers caused by "speed" - "rushing" drivers, young and old, "rushing" to work, "rushing" to school, "rushing" on the streets, "rushing" to cut through neighborhood streets, huge trucks "rushing" to landfills. It's "rushing roulette" which the county has know about for years, and it continues to claim innocent lives. Only the county can help eliminate the potential dangers of the roadways by administering and installing safety devices to deter dangers. What about installing another light on Route 520 between the parkway and St. Leo's, alleviating the drag strip effect? What about speed calming brickwork on the roadways in front of the (center) Lincroft Village Stores, with pedestrian rights-of-way? Red Bank managed to get speed calming on Broad Street, Freehold managed to get speed calming of Route 537 through town. Why not Lincroft? Why? Do the right thing - stop the political red tape and excuses and start saving lives.
