      George E. Rinear

      Mr. Rinear, 79, of Aberdeen, died May 10 at home. Born in Matawan, he resided in Aberdeen the past 46 years. He was a self-employed auto repair mechanic at Rinear’s Repair, Matawan, for 16 years. He served with the U.S. Army (Demolition) during World War II, and received the Bronze Star. He was a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4247, Keyport. He was a member of the local barbershoppers group, SPBSQSA. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and Atlantic City. He was predeceased by three brothers, Danny, Leroy and William. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Lennon Rinear; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Paul Rinear of Aberdeen, and Jeffrey and Stacy Rinear of Maplewood, Minn.; a brother and sister-in-law, Millard and Grace Rinear of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Doris Enterline of Matawan, and Lillian Edwards of Spring Hill, Fla.; and one grandchild. A funeral service was held at First Baptist Church of Matawan. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery, Matawan. Arrangements were by Bedle Funeral Home, Matawan. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, 1 RWJ Place, New Brunswick 08901.

      Joseph G. Kappel Jr.

      Mr. Kappel, 70, of Middletown, died May 12 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in St. Louis, he resided in Middletown most of his life. He was a retired engineer at Telcordia Tech, Red Bank, where he had worked since 1985. Prior to that, he was employed at Bell Labs, Holmdel, from 1960-85. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Engineering Society. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Klien Kappel in 1991. He is survived by a son, Matthew Kappel of Long Branch; two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Bryan Hall of Olney, Md., and CDR Margaret Ryan M.D., USN, and Terrance Ryan of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth Malon of St. Louis; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. May’s Church. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

      Irene T. Nemeth

      Mrs. Nemeth, 74, of Hazlet, died May 13 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she resided in Hazlet 48 years. She was a retired crossing guard in Hazlet, where she was employed 18 years. She was a member of and Eucharistic minister at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She was a life member of Hazlet Raritan First Aid Squad Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store of Holy Family Church. She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Frederick Nemeth; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Karen and Rick Bowe of North Andover, Mass., and Donna and Thomas Mazza of Middletown; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Nina Nemeth of Montville; a sister, Vilma Kirchgessner of Hazlet; and six grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at Holy Family Church. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to The Vincent DePaul Society at Holy Family Church, Route 36, Union Beach 07735.

      James L. Skaggs Jr.

      Mr. Skaggs, 78, of Matawan, died May 13 at home. He had been a resident of Matawan for the past 32 years. Mr. Skaggs was a vice president at Manton Cork Co., Long Island, N.Y., retiring several years ago. He served with the U.S. Navy as a chef during World War II. He was a coach for the Old Bridge Soccer League and Little League, and was an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 129, Old Bridge. Mr. Skaggs was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Helen Duzmati Skaggs. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Valerie Skaggs of Los Angeles; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Bob Anfuso of Matawan; and seven grandchildren. Interment was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford, Conn. The Bedle Funeral Home, Matawan, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop 129, c/o St. Ambrose Church, Throckmorton Lane, Old Bridge 08857.

      Florence E. Slover Uhrig

      Mrs. Uhrig, 90, of Union, died May 13 at Burnt Tavern Nursing Home, Brick. Born in Keyport, she resided there before moving to Union 17 years ago. Mrs. Uhrig was a homemaker. She was a member of Rebecca Lodge, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, William Raymond Uhrig, in 1980; a daughter, Elizabeth S. Noce, in 2003; and seven siblings. She is survived by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, with burial at the church cemetery. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.

      Robert L. Lambright

      Mr. Lambright, 65, of Middletown, died May 15 at University Hospital, Newark. Born in Holly Hill, S.C., he resided in the Bronx and Belmore, N.Y., prior to moving to Middletown 15 years ago. He was a retired computer specialist for U.S. Customs, New York City, for 36 years, retiring in 1999. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans of New Jersey, and Democratic Club of New Jersey. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He was predeceased by his father, Chapman Lambright, in 1974. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy McClemdon Lambright; two daughters, Joyce Lambright and Janice Lambright, both of the Bronx, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Yvette Lambright of Glen Allen, Va.; his mother, Mamie Lambright of the Bronx; his mother-in-law, Joyce McClemdon of the Bronx; and a brother, Leroy Lambright of Brooklyn, N.Y. Burial was at Long Island National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island, N.Y. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

      Smith Caputo

      Mrs. Caputo, 66, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, died May 16 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Hoboken prior to moving to Cliffwood Beach 34 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by a brother, John Smith in 1993. She is survived by her husband, Anthony Caputo of Cliffwood Beach; a daughter, Judy Ulmer of Wilson, N.C.; a son, Anthony Caputo Jr. of Wilson, N.C.; two sisters, Dolores Kosbab of Keansburg, and Linda Smith of North Arlington; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, with burial at the church’s cemetery. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

      Catherine M. Fountaine

      Mrs. Fountaine, 82, of Keyport, died May 9. She resided in Levittown, N.Y., prior to moving to Keyport. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Catherine and Kevin Graham; three sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Eileen Fountaine, Robert and Christine Fountaine, and George and Mary Fountaine; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Sayville, N.Y. Interment was at Veterans Administration National Cemetery, Calverton, N.Y.
